Join us for a 16 hour REC course and learn outdoor first aid, taught by medical experts. The course is certified by Rescue Emergency Care, and will meet the first aid requirements for most outdoor qualifications and jobs.
The course is hosted near Bakewell, in the Peak District. It's an amazing location, with beautiful wooded valleys and rivers. It's also very accessible from major cities in the Midlands and from elsewhere via the M1.

Widely considered the industry standard in Wilderness Medical Training; join us for 3-days jam packed with medical simulation, practical learning and, as always, a good dollop of adventure. If you have love for the outdoors and all things wilderness medical then this is the course for you. Valid for 16 CPD points and perfectly suited for any budding expedition leaders and adventurers. If you're looking to in kick-start your career in remote medicine, or acquire new knowledge and experience, come and learn from us and from each-other. Our 16 hour Outdoor First Aid course offers a busy and interactive training package focussed on giving you the skills to manage casualties in both an urban and wilderness context. The training aims to be as practical as possible and allows plenty of time for repetition to aid skills retention. No previous first aid experience is needed. Participants from the age of 16 upwards are welcome. The course timings are 9 am to 6pm on both days. Topics covered will include:
* Assessments of situations and casualty
* Airway, breathing and circulation assessments
* Emergency resuscitation (including use of AED’s)
* Safe airway positions
* Dealing with choking
* Treatment of severe bleeding and shock
* Major injuries, including chest, head and pelvic injuries
* Treatment of fractures
* Heat and Cold problems (hypothermia and hyperthermia)
* Life threatening medical conditions such as heart attack, asthma, diabetes, strokes, seizures, burns and anaphylactic shock
* Injury management in an outdoor situation
* Incident management scenarios
Successful candidates will be issued with an electronic certificate valid for 3 years.

We'll be camping at Thornbridge Outdoors, near Bakewell, DE45 1NY. There is fresh water and showers as well as a campfire and classroom for teaching. All our locations are rural and beautiful so you may want to come down a night early to get set up if you're coming far. If you don't have wheels pop a post in the forum to make contact with someone who may offer you a lift. The trip is self-catered to keep your costs down.
