Hi Hussain, If you don't manage to borrow a jacket there are lots of outdoor shops in Aviemore where you can buy one. It's essential you have a good waterproof to keep you warm and dry on the hill. Also, make sure you have plenty of warm layers as well (e.g. a down jacket) as it can be very chilly, particularly if it's windy. Best wishes, UE Team

Hi, Just some info in case anyone in the group has similar questions. Hiking boots can be described as B0, B1, B2 or B3 boots depending on how flexible the soles are. B0 have the most flexible soles. B1 boots have reasonably flexible soles and are mostly used for non-winter hiking. B2 boots have less flexible soles and can be used with crampons, they're often used for winter hiking. B3 boots have very stiff soles, and are used for technical mountaineering and climbing. For the Cairngorms course B2 boots are ideal for when we’re doing winter skills, and would allow you to try out some crampons if you’d like to, but B1 would be ok too. The key things are: the boots need to be waterproof, have good grip on icy terrain, and keep your feet warm when we’re spending all day out in the snow. Ice axe and crampons are optional but if you’d like to bring them along you’ll get a chance to use them. We normally have plenty of spare ice axes for the group to test on the Sunday, and if you’re keen to try crampons and have suitable boots you might be able to borrow a pair. We just wanted to let you know there is also a bus that runs from Aviemore to Glenmore, it's the number 30 Stagecoach bus, if you struggle to find a lift. Hi, it is up to you if you choose to camp or not, but we would strongly recommend giving the camping a go, it makes the trip a wilder experience and is much more realistic of a mountain expedition. On previous courses everyone has tried camping for at least one of the nights. Trying out camping in winter is also a great experience as it gives you a chance to test out your kit and see if it's suitable for the conditions. We pitch in the woodland behind the hostel so it's a lovely spot. Let us know if you have any more questions
