Get to know some more of our awesome team of instructors with our Meet the Team, part 2. Keep an eye out for the team either on one of Unique Expeditions' trips, or on other adventures.

What do you do for your day job? Retired Detective now part time outdoor instructor and Mountain Rescue Volunteer.


What's your role with Unique Expeditions? Instructor in outdoor hill craft and wilderness first aid skills


Where is your favourite place to visit? Love Highland Scotland and Lake District and any long Alpine hill climb on the road bike


What's your dream expedition? South Island in New Zealand


What is your favourite hiking snack? Any flavour of Soreen Loaf (full loaf)


Oli Thompson

What do you do for your day job? I'm an anaesthetics trainee in London - for another few days anyway, until I take a(nother) year out for some travel and adventure.


What's your role with Unique Expeditions? I teach on the Scotland and Wales expedition medicine courses. I'm also organising a super secret and super exciting upcoming event - watch this space!


Where is your favourite place to visit? Canada in the winter - I absolutely love skiing and the resorts out there are a level above anything in the Alps for off-piste powder.


What's your dream expedition? It would probably involve some ski touring.


What is your favourite hiking snack? Probably a mars bar - there's something about them getting really cold that makes them taste so much better than normal.


Andy Dorsett

What do you do for your day job? Survival consultant/instructor, risk management and medic for TV & Film productions and expeditions. I also do a little photography.


What's your role with Unique Expeditions? With my experience of working in number of different environments & remote locations worldwide, I share my knowledge and skills with students to help them better prepare and feel more comfortable whilst in remote location on expeditions.


Where is your favourite place to visit? This is always a tough question as there are so many amazing places and I love meeting, learning, and sharing skills with people from all around the world. I’d like to go back and explore more of Kazakhstan.


What's your dream expedition? Africa has always been on my list.


What is your favourite hiking snack? I like a good trail mix or dark chocolate and nuts, but you can’t be some Haribo Tangfastics for a sugar hit.

What do you do for your day job? F3 doctor working in Bangor, North Wales


What's your role with Unique Expeditions? Instructor on UK courses (Wales and Cairngorms)


Where is your favourite place to visit? Anywhere with lakes and mountains!


What's your dream expedition? A long distance hiking and camping trip somewhere remote with lots of big hills, idyllic swimming spots and good wildlife! Maybe British Colombia?


What is your favourite hiking snack? Anything to give a sugar kick! Kinder chocolate bars and Kendall mint cake are strong candidates for me!!

What do you do for your day job? Sustainability Clinical Fellow / FY3


What's your role with Unique Expeditions? Instructor on Brecon and Cairngorms and contributor to organised fun (such as Good Clap Bad Clap)


Where is your favourite place to visit? Any local nature reserve


What's your dream expedition? Working as a medic on a wildlife film documentary


What is your favourite hiking snack? Haribo Goldbears - I have a soft spot for them since working as a ski instructor

Where is your favourite place to visit? The ocean, especially the pacific


What's your dream expedition? Off-road rally expedition through the African continent with electric vehicles


What is your favourite hiking snack? Sour patch kids


Jack Watson

What do you do for your day job? I'm a GP based in Cheltenham but also work regularly as an ED Doctor. I love working in remote and rural locations such as the Scottish Islands and Expedition medicine is my greatest passion.


What's your role with Unique Expeditions? I have taught on the UE Wales and Cairngorms courses and helped organise the faculty Mt Blanc trip this summer.


Where is your favourite place to visit? I love mountains and the great African wilderness.


What's your dream expedition? Contrastingly the great white desert of Antarctica is my dream destination, hoping to be fulfilled next year.


What is your favourite hiking snack? Hiking snack has to be a softbake choco hazelnut belvita!
